I teach and coordinate BA- and MA-level courses on European integration and European democracy, as well as on academic skills and research methods. From 1 September 2010 to 31 August 2014, I was programme director of Maastricht University’s BA in European Studies. I was nominated for Maastricht University's 2018 Wynand Wijnen Education Prize, together with Sjoerd Stoffels for our work on a digital mentor programme portfolio.

Since January 2019 I am faculty coordinator for Continuing Professional Development, which, among other things, has included the development of a series of webinars on online teaching and learning to support teaching staff during the Covid-19 crisis. I ran workshops on problem-based learning at the University of Trento (October 2018) and the University of Leeds (October 2019).

With Carla Haelermans of the university’s School of Business and Economics I lead a university-level project on learning in the international classroom. Johan Adriaensen and I are working on several projects on curriculum design, including the new DEALIGN project with Alexandra Mihai which explores what coordinative practices are used when designing and implementing curricula, to prevent de-alignment and ensure quality control at programme level.

I am a member of Maastricht University’s Leaning & Innovation Taskforce, chair of the faculty’s Technology-Enhanced Learning Taskforce, and co-editor of the FASoS Teaching & Learning Blog. Afke Groen and I won the 2019/2020 CERiM Communicating Europe Award for Research-Teaching Integration for our work on the blog.
